Chenqi,Inner Mongolia Tour

This is a small cute clean town. It is about an hours drive from Hailar. The good museum is here. It is a new museum and gives a very good overview of Mongolian culture. Hotels here have no shower, not even cold water. The museum is great. It is new. You get a very good idea of the surrounding country. But this is a Mongolian town with a restaurant we like to take people to, as it serves real Mongolian food. Tourists from France really liked it.

There is another town with almost the same pronunciation, QianQi. This is a town about a 15 minute drive from UlanHot. It is a brand new town. As of this writing, there are over 20 huge cranes here. A new city is being built. Apartments. INTERNET buildings. Other big buildings

When building is completed in about a year or two it will be the new UlanHot. The new city will blend into the old city. But the old city is not that old.There the streets are four to six lanes. The city has nothing to see, but hotels with shared bathrooms and a computer are to be had for about US$10.00!!! A new Mongolian restaurant is being built with milk tea, lamb. and other Mongolian food. This is a Mongolian town now.

So if you want to see the new China, look around here.
